Election Day, November 6, 2012

Regardless of who wins the United States’ election today, my faith and trust will rest in the sovereign God of all, Who is over all, and Who accomplishes His purposes and does His perfect will.  May His chosen candidate win--for better or for worse.  Whether you voted or did not vote, or whether you voted for that candidate or the other candidate, your actions were an important thread in the tapestry of God. He is sovereign over all.

"For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God." (Romans 13:1)

Neither man nor government is our salvation or our true hope for the future.  They are only vessels of clay in the Master Potter’s hands.  God alone is Savior in all ways and for all time.

He is "the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord,” and to Him ”be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now, and for all ages." (Jude 1:25)

Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him." (Daniel 2: 20-22)

My prayer this morning went like this:

Almighty God, Your perfect will be done on earth as it is done in this entire universe!  It doesn’t matter whether I like your perfect will or not.  Your will be done.  My boast and my trust and my focus will be upon You.  I am not to trust in legislators or presidents to be the people’s salvation.  I am to trust in You.
My Lord, Jesus Christ, You are my Lord.  You are The Lord.  Your rightful place is as King of this entire earth.  Your rightful place is as President of our nation, our families, and our hearts.  One day, it will be so.

Christ is the “Head of every sovereignty and authority” because “in Him is all created, that in the heavens and that on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or sovereignties, or authorities, all is created through Him and for Him, and He is before all, and all has its cohesion in Him.”  (Colossians 2:10, 1:16-17)
